Optometric vision therapy includes a variety of activities to use the eyes to retrain the brain to use the eyes better as a team. While optometric vision therapy is not designed to strengthen your eye muscles, since they are generally very strong on their own, it is designed to improve the patient’s use of the visual process. It is done both in our office and with assigned activities at home, and can help resolve many types of visual problems with repeated use over time. Some examples of optometric vision therapy equipment include but are not limited to: Eye patches, glasses, contact lenses, prism lenses, letter charts, balance boards, and specialized computer and electronic programs.
